Streamlined Body Project: Air
One of several prototypes I built of a vessel meant to ascend to 400 feet, disengage motors, fall freely, and re-engage motors to catch itself before impact. Others included retractable arms, but servos/steppers introduced weight (and cost) problems. Lessons learned in 3D printing, controls, UAVs, electronics, aerodynamics.
Streamlined Body Project: Water
A vessel designed to sink as fast as possible. Used Solidworks to design streamlined body, 3D printed in parts. Lined interior walls with scrap tungsten wrapped in duct tape, used pressurized water bottle and nosecone channels in effort to simulate supercavitation, painted with hydrophobic surface coating, added fins for stabilization.
